SLICKTAPE®

NEPTCO is the sole manufacturer of a unique, patented technology that delivers the consistent lubrication necessary to fold and wrap shielding tape around cable without using excessive amounts of oil. The technology is self-contained, therefore eliminating the need for drip or sponge type oilers and the mess associated with them.

Here's how it works:

SLICKTAPE products are pattern-coated with microencapsulated oil beads. During cabling, dynamic contact against metallic tooling causes the oil beads to break open, disbursing a controlled quantity of lubricant. This keeps the folding process running smoothly and free from both dry spots and excessive oil. This method has proved to be much less disruptive to the extrusion process than a heavy layer of oil applied with a sponge.

Oil Vaporization: Customers who have switched to SLICKTAPE after using sponge-applied lubricants find the risk of blistered jackets caused by oil vaporization significantly reduced. Many resins, particularly PVC's, will not tolerate outgassing caused by too much oil.

Pads:

Inside diameter 3 inches or 6 inches

Outside diameter Up to a specified range of 12" - 18"

Handling Instructions

SLICKTAPE products on pads must be bound on both sides during unwind to prevent telescoping. The self-lubricating feature of SLICKTAPE requires that pads be handled at the circumference rather than at the core, and care must be exercised when placing SLICKTAPE pads on the unwind spindle. Material handlers and operators should be instructed in proper handling techniques to prevent loose cores.

SLICKTAPE technology can be applied to most NEPTAPE products.
